All prototypes and production come to life beginning in these departments.
Sureway entered into the modern world of CNC punching in 1999 with the introduction of "Tiny", our Pullmax punching cell. With the availability of up to 15 independent tooling stations, a sheet size capability of 54 x 100 and material thickness up to .188", there’s very little this machine can’t handle.
In 2001 Sureway added a second punching cell with the introduction of "Big Bertha". This machine is basically Tiny’s clone but with the added capability of automatically loading and unloading its own material, as well as separating the finished product with the use of it’s part picking system.
To further Sureway’s capabilities a third punching cell was introduced in 2005. With the introduction of "Heidi", the CNC punching department took on a whole new level of capabilities. This machine not only does what the previous two machines do but does it twice as fast and with even larger material. We’re talking sheets in excess of 60" x 120". In addition to the typical punching associated with all turrets, this machine has the ability to form material much in the same way a press brake would form smaller parts. Flange heights up to 3" are easily accommodated. In addition, it has the ability to tap threads in virtually any material thickness up to .25" with any one of its 6 independent tapping stations.
Any capable fabricator will have a sheet metal laser on its floor. At Sureway, we wanted to be more than just capable. Enter the Prima 3d laser cutting system. In situations where turnaround is but minutes away, there’s no substitute for a laser machine. This machine has nearly zero setup time, capabilities that include sheet sizes of up to 60" x 120" as well as the ability to cut the full perimeter of tubing diameters up to 12". With 2500 watts on tap, .312" material thicknesses are a breeze, and this also gives us the ability to handle aluminum and stainless steel. As the name implies, this machine has the ability to cut in 3 dimensional space. 3d cutting is a large advantage when it comes to cutting parts that have already been formed or require stamping prior to cutting. With 5 axis of rotation and 16" of vertical travel, there are very few parts that this machine can’t handle.
All of our punching cells as well as our laser are programmed using state of the art offline programming software. Our five engineers are all trained on a variety of software that includes Si-cam for the Prima laser and Metalsoft and Jetcam for the 3 punching systems. The code generated is stored on our engineering server and is picked up wirelessly by any one of our CNC machines for immediate use.
